My life, My memory, My dream

Yearly family vacation had us chose Eastern Europe this time. We couldn't afford the livelihood of free and easy trip for our elderly parents, hence going on a tour is a wise decision.
This time we went with Golden Travel Tour (GTT) for they are well-known for Europe tours. In order to accommodate nephew's holiday schedule we chose to go during year-end, which means cold winter time! I've always loved travelling in colder climate but worried that my parents might not be able to take it. This time, I made sure we are all well-prepared before departure.

Poland - Czech - Austria - Hungary: This is the route that we took.

Arriving Poland!

What is a little adventure if there's no mishaps in my life? I should have known by now that it's not always smooth road ahead of me. Third day in vacation, I've lost my purse due to pickpocket. It was the last night in Poland and I haven't started spending money yet! I told myself it's alright, my passport and phone are still with me. Somehow, I still got a little bit moody. I've heard various stories of people being stolen their bags, pickpocket at Eastern Europe. I've been careful but apparently not cautious enough.

Every cloud has a silver lining it seems. I managed to make a police report upon arrival at Vienna on day eight of our trip, and this serves as an evidence to do my travel insurance claims later.

These 12 days went by quickly and every place we went was merely a touch and go version. Well, the cons of following a tour. But this experience gave me a glimpse of the place that I would love to return to someday and explore further. While saving money for the next trip, let's just recall all the happy moments by scrolling through the beautiful photos.

I didn't want to write too much on this post because the routes weren't planned by ourselves. Gonna end this lengthy "photo album" post with a cute video of my daddy, my first love💗

The days are passing by crazily fast last year. I’ve been busy chasing for health, for wealth and most of the time for sleep.

I almost forgot the feeling of writing, the overflowing emotions and thoughts through my head but couldn’t find the right words to describe.

2017 had been a fruitful year. I’ve been out and about seeing the world, spending time w family and friends as well as meeting strangers along the way. New relationships built, old ones reconciled.

Stepping into the 30s marks a turning point for me. I’ve learnt on how to be an adult, to be responsible for choices made, to not regret mistakes made. Yes, I do mistakes too cause’ I’m not perfect, and through these   imperfections I’m able to see and believe good in life. I’ve failed and feared but learnt how to overcome obstacles. I’ve also come to realise that pain doesn’t go away - but learning how to deal with it is the way to be. Embrace the pain, dive into the emotions, let the tears flow and experience it fully.

Savour every moment, be it joy or sorrow because right now, at this moment, is the youngest I’ll ever be.

Annnndddd, Happy New Year from the both of us! Muahhh 💋

Finally, I've joined the 30s Club - officially, no turning back. This piece is necessary for those people who made my birthday extra amazing this year. Birthday celebrations started as early as 2 weeks before the actual date. Just 2 Sundays before birthday came, I was blessed to have my Powerpuff w me (just like the usual years before), and we had a nice brunchie w long chats.

Thank you Powerpuffs :)
Then, on the Friday right before birthday, I had a small but warm-hearted celebration w my family. These people who gave me life, and everything in life - I thank God to have them, and forever be grateful that I'm the youngest in the family (not anymore after baby Ethan is born). Thank you for showering me w the best, and gave me the most amazing moments and always be there for me no matter how hard I fall. Thank you for all the support and encouragement, and being my strength pillars. W all my heart, I wished upon the candle on my cake - that we will forever be healthy and happy as we are now. We don't get to choose our family, but if there's afterlife I would wanna be apart of this family all over again, and again, and again.

My birthday bundle!
On the actual day, I have a date w dear. And as all the years before, she never missed my birthdays. Even when she was away to study, there were calls and birthday cards from afar. And this year makes no exception. Dear said she will be the chauffeur for the day, all I have to do is to get dressed and wait for her to come pick us for dinner. As we reached the cafe, and I pushed open the glass door - there I was surprised by these lovely bunch of girls. They had been here since secondary school days, and we had shared so much and so many stories to tell. We were always together during life events, and supported each other at difficult times. Thank you my fair ladies, my happy pills for celebrating this special moment w me as I join you all last in this 30s club. We didn't grow older, we grow wiser :)

My fairladies, #myhappypills
Special thanks to this girl next to me, not only on this particular day but throughout my whole life till' now - braving me through life's ups and downs, picking me up when I hit the ground, slapping me with harsh truth when she needs to, putting sense into me, and plainly just be there for me no matter when I needed her or not. Thank you for being a sister from another mother, showing me kindness and pampering me all the time. Your surprise is yet another success - the blue Magdalene cake and that bunch of sweet pink roses definitely filled my heart much. 30 is not gonna be the same without you. Here's to many more birthdays together! ♥️

Forever my Dearie

This is definitely one birthday to be remembered :)

By far, the year had not started very well for me. It was all about work and being busy, and when it's about time to slow down to prepare for CNY, here I am sitting on my bed typing away on a sick day.

Had onset of fever 4 nights ago, then developed severe sorethroat the morning after. Was told by a Dr that I had tonsilitis - tonsils grade 2 and was given a day MC and started on antibiotics with plenty of fluids. Fever lasted for another 2 days and subsided altogether with the sorethroat. There I thought I've recovered with new rash appearing on my palms and feet the day after.

Sick day 4, only I've been diagnosed with Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease. A common children's disease, and yet I got it (yea, I'm still a kid). So, another extra two off days! Stay in at home and be a good girl.

With this, I hope 2017 has something better in store for me. I'm better and stronger now.

Time again, waits for no one.
Can't believe that I only wrote a single post for year 2016.

I've always like to pen down my thoughts and experiences so that I can always read them again and oftenly I have a different feeling / opinion from what I've felt previously.

Though' I didn't manage to write down everything, but last year indeed was a fulfilling and enjoyable ride. I was grateful to be blessed with all the good and beautiful things, with all my loved ones around.

If I were to mention one sad moment - that is the passing of grandma. Her passing was the lost of the entire family. The pain of losing her was greatly felt by my mum, who fell sick and cried for days. The last time I lost someone as close was almost 13 years ago, when grandpa left us suddenly, just 2 weeks before Chinese New Year. Through them, I learnt bout' family and unity. And thanks to them I'm sharing a strong bond with my cousins. I guess grandparents have done all they can for us, and lived most of their lives. Grandma would have met grandpa by now - and they are prolly' looking at us, making sure all of us are fine.

P/s: Maybe I should make "updating my blog weekly" one of my resolution for Year 2017 😛

a new place where I'm currently working. Been moved down to this small town for a month now already. As the day goes my, my heart is reaching more to home where my family and friends are. I thought things will get easier as time passes, but reality is the opposite way. The more I stay here, the more I yearn the days I was back at home, the place I worked, to meet the people I used to meet. I guess that's the way human is - to miss what's not here anymore.

Slowly, I'm learning bout being independent, away from being daddy's girl, to stay quiet in a small town, to sleep in a tiny room without air-cond, to travel every week driving long distance on my own (if I'm not working on the weekend)... Endless things I'm learning and growing up. Shall be strong and return home to be a better person.

Counting down to,
334 days left.

all left behind were the mourning loved ones, memories and ashes.

Friday morning at work, received a devastating news - uncle finally passed on after so many months of sufferings. Coming in and out of the hospital, having to do regular HD and waiting for an open heart surgery all made him tired. In fact, too tired for his old age. Maybe it's really time to move on to a better place. It's alright, we all understand that it's too much to bear. Yes, we all broke down and cried when it was time to send him off at the crematorium. It was the last journey we had with him and the next thing we knew he's gone forever.

Have a safe journey and don't worry bout' anything anymore cause' you've done all your best for your family. It's time to rest in peace and may you be a very healthy person in your next life. All my prayers are with you.

The one day that I've been waiting for the past so many years, so do my parents. After all the obstacles and hardwork, I'm finally up the stage to get hold of my scroll. Not anything to brag about cause' everyone's doing the same thing but at least I know I made my parents proud. My mum cried for me when I was up there. Pharm was never an easy course, and now it turns out to be not an easy profession. But, I'll hang on cause' this is what I chose to be, the journey that I've started and only myself to finish till' the destination.

No words to describe how grateful and thankful to God to have give me such parents, to adore, to love, and cherish me no matter how I do and what I do. All I can say is, I love you both for everything.

I'm standing tall today, cause' I have you both by my side.

Taken and arranged by my lovely dear :)

Like everyone else, I too grew up. My 26th birthday this year (quietly telling myself to not celebrate anymore birthdays after 30 - oopsie, another 4 years!) Well, maybe not. Birthdays always give me warm memories with my loved ones.

Birthday morning was greeted by Terrina by the gate. Came here to do a birthday hair-do for me so that I could go out prettily later. As always, birthday wouldn't be complete without having dear by my side. Like a special date, I was brought to a nice cafe which serves authentic coffee followed by a movie and a birthday pressie after. And nope, the celebration didn't just end there.

At night, met up with my family for a Korean dinner and ended with a green tea cake prepared by brother. My day wasn't a luxurious nor lavish one but simple and lovely enough. All I needed was to be with my loved ones. Thank you for letting my life worthwhile, for all these 26 years.

p/s: And hey, it was good to hear your voice after so long. I didn't know I missed u so. So u were there all along, deep down in the heart.

To celebrate the day, we decided to bring mum for Shanghai cuisine at J.W. Marriot. Costly, but the food was great! Like many others Chinese lady, mum has always preferred Chinese food.

Shanghai xiao long bao || drunken chicken || marinated cucumbers || lion's head || fried foo chuk || fried asparagus || steamed mantou || sweet and sour fish with taufu
Pomelo mango soup || complimentary heart-shaped jellies || black sesame tang yuan in ginger soup || fruits with cold almond pudding || red bean pastries

Mummy - a single word that brings so much more meaning than just simply calling it. She is the one who takes care of us (my brother, sister and I) when we are sick, cleans the house, cooks for the whole family, does the dishes, washes the clothes, and the list goes on. Like a wonder woman, doing all sorts of household chores and amazingly able to find those forever-will-go-missing-things whenever I shouted, "Mum! Where's my ...?"

As a person who is always strict since I was young, she made us learned everything thinking it's all for our own good. From swimming to computer lessons to piano, she was never tired to look through our workbooks (and always bringing a cane with her!). As we grew older, the softer she got and less scoldings as she know we are all old enough to know what we should do and we should not do. But then again due to her increasing age, nagging becomes a constant problem (again I knew it's still for our own good).

These recent years, mum's age has been catching up pretty fast. She complained of  aching legs, tired body thinking that prolly' she has some underlying disease. I sometimes tried to push that though to the back of my mind, wanting to remember her as the strong woman always but it seems mum cannot be young forever. To all the future years of journey with mum, I promise I'll love you (only more, and not less).

Recently things are not going good for the family. Dad's cough became terribly uncontrollable and finally admitted to the hospital on Monday night. This is the first ever time I saw the weak sight of daddy, cause' he's always the strong one at home (everyone gets sick but he doesn't). Seeing him falling sick is like seeing a pillar of strength comes falling down. I finally realize that age is catching up with daddy when I looked at him closely these few days. There were white hair, wrinkles around the eyes and neck, his once fat belly becomes flatter - it's time us children to look after him.

A paper crane to wish daddy speedy recovery.

Today is the 4th day since his admission, and I've been really tired going back and forth to the hospital twice a day, and running errands here and there. All I need now is a good long sleep, however, seeing daddy getting better each day lifted my mood. So long he's healthy I'm willing to do anything for him.

And ooh btw, I'm missing this baby girl already - time to bring her back :)

Almost an April Fool's baby, he was born on April 2nd. Prolly' because nearing to this date, that's why he's a witty charming baby boy. Although he drove us crazy sometimes with his mischievous ways, but always managed to melt our hearts with only a mere smile. Becoming one - learning how to talk, how to walk is the cutest age ever.

Baby boy's one year old birthday cake

The happy parents :)

Eyeing only on the largest pressie!

Still remember the day when he was born, so tiny so fragile and now a strong healthy boy. Lil' nephew, I *hearts* you!

Finally... In the mood (and time) of writing a long post with photos attached (all will make you salivate, so do not read this if you're currently hungry :p). Time always slipped away quietly, passing day by day. Although it was my 3rd time going Hong Kong but I was really looking forward to it cause' it has been such a long time since a whole complete family of mine going for a vacation. I've always missed the time when I was young, when the whole family goues for vacation every year-end when we were all having school holidays. Don't know since when, the routine stopped due to school exams/work/getting married/having baby. The last trip we went together was definitely more than 5 years ago (oh, how I wish I'm a kid again!)

It was a wrong move to do free and easy tour with parents around cause' we were making them walking shooo much, taking public transports (can't deny that the MTR and buses were really convenient). First and second day were spent at the city never sleeps - Macau. I've always liked Macau for its beautiful night lights, and comfortable small city where everything's just around the corner. And of course, not to forget their famous Portuguese tarts and double-steamed milk pudding! The rest of the week were spent at the shopping paradise - Hong Kong! (but sadly, I didn't shopped till I dropped, instead walked till' my legs almost broke). Again, Hong Kong is a place with lotsa of good foodies - from dim sum breakie to wanton noodles to late night snacks and mouth-watering desserts.

Upon arrival at HKIA, starving us had a really good lunch before heading to Macau

Macau, the city that never sleeps. Casinos everywhere.
A very unforgettable breakie at Nam Peng Cafe (old Macau area) - where this coffee shop has run for more than 50 years serving locals.

I love them very muchie!
My all-time fav dessert: Double-steamed milk pudding at Leiteria I Son @ Senardo Square, Macau

Dinner at Wong Chi Kee Restaurant, famous for its wanton noodles

Must-try Portuguese food if you're at Macau! O' Santos Comida Portueguesa @ Kunha St,. Taipa

Arriving Hong Kong! - welcoming us are the beautiful night lights at Arena of Stars.

Famous goose dinner at Yu Kee Restaurant, Sam Tseng. Our best dinner at HK!
Dessertssss after dinner!
My fav dessert of all - sweet fondant is love :)
One happy family gonna take ferry to Hong Kong Island
At The Peak. Cold and windy day, too bad the sky's too foggy to take good pictures.

Vegan lunchie at Tai Yu San
One fine morning, waiting for dim sum...

... and still waiting
Finally, dim sum arrived @ Luk Yu Tea House, Welling St.

Other than eating and eating and eating (with lil' shopping), not to forget to "bai bai" . Left: Great Big Buddha @ Tai Yu San, HK. Right: Make a lil' wish at Ah-Ma Temple @ Macau.
Bye bye Hong Kong! I'm leaving with a full stomach, empty wallet and happy memories :)

[Jan 26th - 31st 2013] My long-awaited family vacation post comes to an end, wishing there's more to come. Hopefully baby Ethan will be able to join the next one, and hopefully I won't need to wait too long for it to happen again.
