My life, My memory, My dream

I am really bad at farewells. Although I went through this for multiple times, yet I never learn how to detach. Knowing things are impermanent, I still cling onto things / people / moments that won't last.

"The two hardest things to say in life is hello for the first time and goodbye for the last." - Moira Rogers.
I remember the first day when you came into office, and back in my head I thought "What an arrogant guy". Never I thought you will become my housemate and turned out to be the closest person to me here.

After two years of the same routine of going work, off work, lunch and cooking dinners together - it's time for you to leave. I never knew the true meaning of housemates, not until you and boo moved in and there we started eating in instead of searching for outside food. How time flies, it felt just like yesterday when you first moved in. Two years, the changes seems insignificant but you've always tried to show me the positive side of yours, even though you might not be feeling it. Vice versa, I hope I made a positive impact in this short chapter of your life too.

Like you said, all good things must come to an end. You've once told me that you will always be grateful for me no matter at which corner of the world we are at in the future, and wants me to know that you will never rub away this piece of memory of us.

My dramatic housemates, my strength pillars

Omg Omg Omg

Piggg, thank you for the
- 100 home cooked meals
- 150 walks back home together
- 6 months of night shift company, where you made dinner and accompanied me on the walk back during midnight

"It's sad, but sometimes moving on with the rest of your life, starts with goodbye." - Carrie Underwood.
I'm really glad one of us is actually leaving this place for a better good.
And, if we are to meet again someday, I wish for it to be a sunny day.

Just a week back from Vietnam, here I am on the go again. This time to Sabah, The Land of Borneo to visit long time friends and relatives, also as a short getaway to detoxify myself.

Though there’s nothing too special about Sabah, I try to make each trip meaningful by doing something different / new. And this time around, I joined a leisure dive by myself. It wasn’t an easy decision as I’ve always been timid. To venture into the vast blue sea by myself with a bunch of strangers took a lot of courage in me. At this time, I’m missing my adventurous girls. Being with them, I know I’m in safe hands. But one shouldn’t be too dependent all the time, no?

Though’ the dive experience wasn’t an impressive one as the dive sites were mostly sandy bottoms with limited visibility and not many sea creatures to see, but I still find serenity under the water listening to my own breath sounds. I find myself doing better each time I dive, less panic and more buoyancy control. And that’s a good thing to know.

On a dive alone
Other than diving searching for some bravery within, main purpose here is to visit old friends. Friends who were there throughout the past one decade, lifting each other if we fell too hard to the ground, and still do. Being with them (and their babies) for the past few days made me realize we really are grown ups now and we had long move on to different stages of life. Our topics of conversations have changed, our point of view towards life no longer the same as university days.

Meeting baby Spencer for the first time 💗
We had fun being together everyday, waking up in the same house - going places together, doing things in a group just like the olden days. The parents have mini breaks from their babies cause’ me and another friend who came to visit helped out to carry / play with them. Then, we have our private time to do some drinking and long talks at night when the babies are settled down.

I have to admit that I sometimes still miss our younger carefree days, but I guess we have all reach this stage of life where we understand that life is a movement forward. There’s not much time to even juggle the current days, let alone reminiscing the past.

Most friends only stay for a period of time, and when we move on, or priorities change, so do our friends. I’m glad that this group still sticks around, and hopefully always will. And one day, when we finally look back - we can say to each other “Ahhh, we’ve come this far”.

I rarely get the chance to sit down quietly and spend time with myself these days. And when it happens, I found myself too tired to do much - I feel like lying down on the bed doing nothing at all. However, instead of sleeping it away (on this perfect rainy day), writing down my thoughts seems to be the only appropriate thing to do.

Today marks my 4th year here. It's not a long time, but definitely not short either. Gone were the days I long to go home and desperately counting down the hours to leave this place once I call horrible. It's getting better day by day and became bearable because of the people I met here. When I first came, I never really give much thought to the life I'll be having here - cause' I told myself "this is just work, no feelings attached". But as time goes by, my feelings grew much for this place, the people here. Though' there are many hateful things to complain of, the joy I received far more surpass all those hatred.

These people I met here gave me the strength to continue staying here, and make each day counts. They are the ones who gave me everything when I had nothing to begin with. It's amazing that true friendship actually exist among co-workers, and I actually miss their company when I spend long holidays / sick leave away from them. Daily lunch / dinner outings and weekly cooking / game / badminton sessions make life here interesting and fun.

Colleagues here turn into real friends, staying together sometimes like a family - and now have a place I call my second home.

Not a boring moment w this fun bunch at the office - even OT was made fun

I used to count the days after I left home - for the first time ever in my whole life. Counting the days to come back for good. I overcame the fear and adapted to a new independent life, and too quickly years flew by.

At times, when I’m comfortable with my life I think it’s alright to be slightly farther away from home, from the familiar sense of belonging, and from the closeness of family and friends. However, when there are so many people that I used to know when I first came here leaving one by one, and more new people coming in - I can’t help but to wonder, when’s my turn to leave? Aren’t my turn gonna come eventhough I’ve been waiting quietly?

I’m not exactly sad, and prolly’ not ready to leave this comfortable place which I already call my second home, but real home is where the heart is.

Though there’s this tiny squeeze of heart felt, I know people do come and go, and that’s life.

to leave
to grow up on my own
to learn about being independent.

That was my thoughts one and a half year ago.

I do not know anything about moving out, because this is my first time. But,  it proved that this is the perfect distance to move out. Enough to gain independence and freedom, and sufficient to run back home crying if I miss home too much. It is only a 2 and a half hours drive (oops, sometimes I only need an hour and a half)

While I was here, the only thing I think about is leaving. And finally, when I've decided to hand in my transfer letter requesting to be back home - there's a tiny twinge of hesitation. It's time to do so because I've always believed that when I am in a comfort zone, then I should move out and challenge new things again.

No more counting down,
Cause I'm still here at Temerloh - the small town where I've met some kind people, made some really good friends and the place I've grown to be comfortable with.

Till' then I will wait for my next destination while serving as much as I can here.

p/s: After such long time, the first post in this 366 days.

Very quickly, time past and birthday was here again last two weeks. As I grow older, lesser the friends I spend my time with - the ones left are my family, dear and a few more close friends who are here for me no matter what happens. I guess this are friends for life.

After birthday past, I know I have merely another 16 weeks to a year at Temerloh now. When I first came to this unfamiliar place and staying away from home for the first time, other than the tiny tinge of excitement, all left was just fear and endless worries. However, I'm glad that I'm finally settling in and got to know some kind and helpful colleagues as well as new friends. People here do not stay - they come and go, and each time when someone leaves, I do not know if we will see each other again.

Staying away from home gives me the freedom that I've never had before. A snap of idea on what I want to do next, I can just make it happen. However, staying alone too means being responsible to myself and independent at all times. I've experienced things I've never imagine myself doing before - I now can eat alone, jog alone, sleep alone in an empty house, even coming to the cinema to watch movie alone. The body immune system seems to be building up too when I'm alone. Without the endless care and homecooked food from mummy, just a night's of long sleep makes the body recovers fully the very next morning.

Other than being alone during on call times, I have a bunch of friends that I laugh and eat with every night, play badminton on every Tuesday night, sometime movies on Wednesdays - I think life isn't at all bad here.

But no matter what, home is still where the heart is. I will return, someday soon.

112 days left at Temerloh..

8.3.2015

This beautiful couple finally marries. The best friends I've known for 9 years. Like the groom said "9 years isn't a short time". To be able to witness them from the day they started till' this day when they are finally living life as one, makes me want to believe that I can love and be loved too.

Thanks to this pair, they made their wedding day a memorable one and extra meaningful as we meet a lot of friends from the past. Those days when we had so much fun together, and those days when we hugged each other and cry. This wedding is like a gathering, a reunion, a happy ending. Every ending is a new beginning, so although I'm flowing tears missing the past - I shall move on and till' we meet again.

Those were the days when we had most fun together -- inseparable

will be shed when the emo-ness slowly sinks in. Blame it on pms, blame it on working alone on a family day (Sunday), blame it on the hot and cold weather.

But, deep down I know... because the best friend is leaving - my only support when I first came to Temerloh. Here, I've shed twice tears. Once on the second day of work, where I suddenly thought of my family and how badly I missed them. I remembered the hugs I had with mum and dad on the day before, then the tears won't stop flowing. And so, I excused myself to the toilet. Second, it was today when the lift door opened and I hugged my best friend goodbye. Things won't be the same without her here. Once again, I feel I'm lost. Just like back to 4 months ago when I first came - alone and lonely.

Guess this too will be the last time I cry. Nothing here will make me ever drop a tear I think. Can't wait to be back to home.

a new place where I'm currently working. Been moved down to this small town for a month now already. As the day goes my, my heart is reaching more to home where my family and friends are. I thought things will get easier as time passes, but reality is the opposite way. The more I stay here, the more I yearn the days I was back at home, the place I worked, to meet the people I used to meet. I guess that's the way human is - to miss what's not here anymore.

Slowly, I'm learning bout being independent, away from being daddy's girl, to stay quiet in a small town, to sleep in a tiny room without air-cond, to travel every week driving long distance on my own (if I'm not working on the weekend)... Endless things I'm learning and growing up. Shall be strong and return home to be a better person.

yeap.. that's me. Couldn't stop doing other things and seriously start working on this annoying prp project. I am seeing the end of it, just couldn't carry on to finish it. Too tired to handle serious stuff when there's so much room for more interesting things -- like shopping, having travel plans, how to spend non-working days with friends and family. Just the thought of having to do work on these days irritates me. Why is it such a pain in the a** when I am already a floater! *pout big time*

Done with complainin' now back to work. No sleep tonight but I'm still a happy girl cause' Tuesday is a public holiday and I'm gettin' a new phone!

Aza, aza fighting!

The one day that I've been waiting for the past so many years, so do my parents. After all the obstacles and hardwork, I'm finally up the stage to get hold of my scroll. Not anything to brag about cause' everyone's doing the same thing but at least I know I made my parents proud. My mum cried for me when I was up there. Pharm was never an easy course, and now it turns out to be not an easy profession. But, I'll hang on cause' this is what I chose to be, the journey that I've started and only myself to finish till' the destination.

No words to describe how grateful and thankful to God to have give me such parents, to adore, to love, and cherish me no matter how I do and what I do. All I can say is, I love you both for everything.

I'm standing tall today, cause' I have you both by my side.

18.5.13. My turn, finally. I wasn't particularly nervous during the rehearsals, thinking prolly' I would be when the right day comes.  But then, nervousness never came nor the anxiousness. Only the feeling of regret where I couldn't be with my own batch of friends, not sharing the same happiness of graduating together cause' we've been battle mates for 4 years (yea, pharmacy course is like a war).

Sitting there looking at the slides prepared by the juniors recapping all their 4 years together made me thought of my own friends too. When I first came in, my first interview, my first lecture, my first team building camp (and also the last one, oops), my first public health campaign... Though the slides weren't meant for me cause' I'm not their batch, but looking only at that was enough to my eyes blurred with tears. I was suddenly overwhelmed by regret that I didn't attend the oath-taking last year. Though' I couldn't be up on the stage but I should have been there to watch over my friends, to provide them support and to give them my blessings that I couldn't give at that moment. I should have stood there to hug them and tell them how happy I was to be there. But I did nothing of it, instead only joined the after-drinks session and made myself cried over petty stuff and had a memory the next morning that was too painful to recall. And now after a year, I'm here wondering the same question... Are u still afraid to lose me? Or have I already disappeared from your life long time ago? Never will I know the answer so I'm prepared to give up thinking bout' it now. Well, maybe some other day.

End of nostalgic memories and back to oath-taking day. Though' there was zero anticipation of standing up the stage, I still feel very relieved cause' it's finally over. I'm now just waiting for my posting letter and there I go into working life. Please, don't let me meet any horrible bosses! All in all, oath-taking was an okay night to meet up with friends and lecturers.

My very satisfactory hair-do of the day (should I curl my hair permanently after this?)

The reason I've been holding on for the extended year - my CPK mates :)

cause' friends are finally leaving to different pathways. The letter finally came after months of waiting. It's weird that I still feel so heavy-hearted to see them leave when we all had been anticipating the letter. Couldn't believe that all of them have to go just like that once the letter arrived. We managed to have a gathering on the last weekend before they need to report themselves at respective states. All are scattered to different places - Pahang, Kelantan, Terengganu, Negeri Sembilan, Perak, KL.

Ever since young, I learnt that friends come and go. Some stayed, some strayed and came back, and some never. Each separation left me with bittersweet memories, and I wonder when is the next time I will see these familiar faces again. And at the same time also wondering, when I meet these faces again, will they turn out to be strangers? But, one thing I'm sure - I'm not that afraid to get posting letter cause' I have them all over the place.

Just, I'll be missing them so much, so very much.

Finally, the day has arrived. The day when all hard work is paid off. The day which marked the end of study life. The day when you all look smart in your graduation robes and mortarboards. The day you all receive your scroll accompanied with proud parents.

The convocation day which I missed.

But, I am so ever proud of you all my loved ones :)

University life wouldn't be the same without you guys. It has been a great journey we shared.

Finallyyyy... I've got some photos to update my trip. It's supposed to be our their graduation trip, although it's not full attendance of Step G. but the trip was a fun one. No regrets going again after a year. This time I've been to a few more places that I have yet to explore during my first time there -- Chalong Temple, Ko Khai (Kho Pi Pi Island), Phang Nga Bay (James Bond Island).

Left: Me upon arrival; Right: Taken by the pro

Two of my fav snapshots =)

The important people in life

Kho Pi Pi Island -- In love with those colorful umbrellas <3

Phang Nga Bay Island, a very very beautiful place indeed

It's time to leave. Bye Phuket!

Sometimes, going for a trip, it's the company that counts. I had a lot of fun with these people who always create endless laughter and joy. Thank you all for giving me such a memorable trip during the last year of our studies. I don't know when is the next time, but do take care till' we gather again. I don't get tired looking at these photos cause' they remind me of the happy times we shared. Love you guys to bits!

I swallowed the lump in my throat, and refrained myself from shedding tears when I'm writing this cause' I just miss you all so much.

Yes. It's the same feeling I felt when I knew I failed and couldn't graduate in time. Seeing happy faces around me, excited for their convocation, signing papers of retreating university, paying for their robes and mortar boards -- I can't help but to feel that slight tinge of sadness deep down in my heart.

However, I am happy for you all, I really am. Really really am.

... I am here to write again. I've waited photos from friends to update a post on my Phuket trip, but sadly I still didn't get em' till' now. So, I've decided to update on that again when i finally get hold of the photos.

A lot had happened in the past 3 weeks. Exam results were finally out during my vacation in Phuket. Couldn't really believe my eyes when darling sent me an image of my results. I've passed my final exam finally. (oopss.. Have another paper to go >.<) I'm glad that all my beloved friends made it to graduation, though' I'm feeling a lil' disappointed at myself for not making it with them. I merely missed it with only a 2 credit hours paper. Can't hide my sour feeling when they are happily discussing about convocation, and settling their deposit fees, taking transcripts, collecting gowns. However, the good thing is I gain extra 6 months of free time, sufficient to do things that I've always have no time to attend to. And, I know these people will come for my convocation too. =)

It seems the members of Step G. have stronger bond after the Phuket trip. I find myself constantly missing them now and then, and there's a need to keep in touch with them every 2-3 days or so. How could I get used to life without them in the future? I guess I need to adapt.

Time flies, too fast. I'm not ready to bid farewell, yet.

Finally, the time of separation has come. Today is the last official class we are having together. *heavy heart* I remembered my first feeling when I stepped into this course. I fought hard during my pre-u studies to get a placing, and I am a year later than the others in the same batch. I never intended to come and make friends. I am here to study, and get my degree then be done and over with. Little did I know, slowly I am making friends, one by one. For all the times we studied together, skipped classes, lunch get-togethers, birthday celebrations, semester break trips, and etc etc... I am glad that we were all in it together. I am not alone.

Although it is harder for us to be always together in year 4, but we made effort to stay close. Being in different groups in pbl, and clerkship - I've learnt to be more independent and learnt the way to work with different people. Despite some misunderstandings and arguments, I've come to like my group members. Maybe not as friends yet, but as acquaintances. ( I need a longggg time to regard someone as a friend, unfriendly I know :/ )

PBL group for 2 semester

On our last day of clerkship

I'm glad that in these both groups, I have a Step G. member with me. I will miss you all.

Caution! This is a super long post! I've warned you.
Finally, March has come to an end. This is the month which I had 4 quizzes, and 3 weeks of clerkships in a row. I've worked hard, and played hard too. "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy". I sacrificed my sleeping time so that I don't turn dull. Even on this last day of March, here I am typing away my assignment...

On a rainy Saturday afternoon

March has been a roller-coaster ride. Days can never be as busy as these.

A sneak peek on my fully packed planner

Friday (2/3)
It's daddy's birthday today. Some people say that every girl's first love is her dad. I strongly agree to this as my daddy is the first man who carried me in his arms, hugged me when I cried, and kissed me good night to sleep. I know someday I will find my prince charming, but he forever will remain as the king. =)
Happy daddy with his birthday cake!
Sunday (4/3)
Movie night with sister and friends. Had my first beanie seat experience, that's why it's worth to blog out. But, the movie was a disappointment. Even Nicholas Cage didn't made it up for me.

It wasn't up to my expectation >.<
Friday (9/3)
It's a regular date with my dear again. After a month of waiting each other, we finally got to watch this movie together. We made it a point to must watch this together, and indeed it was a good choice because we resembles the two best friends in the movie.

Action romantic comedy. A chick flick where you share good laughs with your girlfriend =)

One of the dialogue which reminds me of the friendship we share.
Lauren: Oh, i think I'm going to hell.
Trish: Don't worry. If you're going to hell, I'll just come pick you up.
I think that's what are friends for. Partners in crime, but loving each other at the same time.

Thursday (15/3)
After a quiz at the beginning of the month, and a week of clerkship, I need to de-stress. My best companion remains as my dear who accompanied me to movie, again. This time we opt for a relaxing cartoon - TheLorax. It wasn't as funny as how we thought, but I fell for the cute baby bear. It's so adorable that I felt like cuddling it right away.

It's not a peanut. It's The Lorax who speaks for the trees!
p/s: And again, you laughed at me saying that whenever I see cute things I will melt. Truth to be told, I do melt easily. Even at your smile, sometimes.

Sunday (18/3)
It's family day, and a day after sis-in-law's birthday. Just had my law quiz yesterday and hoped that I really do pass the paper. Forgetting about the quiz, daddy brought the family to a Japanese feast tonight which comes to a total bill of RM600++. Family day is such an expensive event.

Xenri, my favourite japanese restaurant so far

Monday (19/3)
On this day, I am to own absolute freedom for a week! Parents flew off to Taiwan for holiday. So much for having freedom, I've got no time to savour the taste of it because this is a super busy week. I know how hard it is to live without mum's cooking because I tend to skip meals because I'm too busy to even eat. If mum's around, I would have prepared food on the dining table waiting. I survived these few nights of dinner with the company of my BFFs. Thank you all! =)

Thursday (22/3)
The last day of paediatric department clerkship. I was already so exhausted that I could sleep standing, but still I asked for your company to have late lunch cum dinner with me. I never like you being dishonest to me, and hated it even more if I needed to lie to you. I'm glad that we made everything right today.
I still have this text in my phone...

You: Mina... Even when everyone doesn't trust me, u must trust me... K?
Me: Of course... Never gonna doubt u :)
You: Everyone else can think I'm stupid, immature or a bad person.. Only u cannot.

On the scale of trust of 1-10, you gave me a 7.5. Little did you know, I gave you a 10. Because this is what I've promised you.

Friday (23/3)
I only had less than 3 hours of sleep from last night due to the Admin quiz at 8am. Who has quiz at this early hour of the day?! My energy is all drained out, hence decided to skip the class after the paper. Before heading back home to my bed, I had early breakie with you, and then remembered that I was to go over dear's house to pick her up. It's our norm to sleep over at each other's place whenever our parents are not around. Thanks to you that I do  not need to drive in a tired state as you drove me all the way to Kajang, despite being super tired yourself. My tiredness seems to have disappeared upon seeing dear's Genie. I've always been afraid of animals, but only Genie I am able to to touch and play with. I guess this is all because of dear. I love her, that's why it's easy to like her pet too. During the car journey, there were times my heart skipped a beat when we held hands. That reminds me that even when I was sleeping in another guy's hug I didn't feel a thing. I guess you're just a little different from the others.

At night was the time I spent with dear and her "family". We had dinner and went G6 for after-dinner drinks. I had report to be done and I was driving so I refrained myself from drinking too much. But, even after a couple of glasses the emotions took over me and in a sudden, I missed you so much. Can I don't ever drink without you around next time? This post-effect of alcohol is not something I can handle. :/ At that moment, I wished that you could just appear in front of me. Like magic.

Saturday (24/3)
Today began late because dear and I slept in the morning. Poor dear had to accompany me all night to finish up my clerkship report. Today is a very packed day. If we were to put everyone who tried to asked us out today, we will have to meet different people until the very next morning 7am. In the end, we only chose few friends to meet up, and said sorry to the others. Had a dinner full of laughter with Ti, drinking games and lotsa alcohol with birthday boy and friend, bie, and dear. Lastly, not to forget Mr. C who fetched dear and I back from birthday boy's house at 5 in the morning.

All-day breakfast at Austin Chase
Studying
Sunday (25/3)
Parents finally back from trip! Can't wait to see them after a week. I'm still daddy and mummy's girl afterall. Went to the airport to pick them up, but unfortunately was stuck in the jam while on the way back due to the Sepang F1 race. Dinner was dragged until 11 at night. Reached home tired, but happy to see souvenirs bought for me. After everyone is off to sleep, there I was alone again burning midnight oil for Pharmacoepidemiology paper tomorrow. Poor mieeee :'(

Thursday (29/3)
Finally, a meet-up dinner for the 4 of us - Terrina, KVD, ZY and I. It had been awhile since 4 of us hang out together. We used to always have drinks and chats together. I miss those days. The night ended with 2nd round yum cha session with my dear joining us.

Dinner for 4 @ Pastis's Dining

It's time to off to bed after working on this long draggy post. Nights. =)
